White Footed Ants
- Size
- Color
- Dark body with pale yellow tarsi at end of legs
- Locations
- Isolated parts of Southern Florida
- Isolated areas of California
- Hawaii
- Eating Preferences
- Stinger
- Antennae
- Shorter antennae than Crazy Ants
- Queen
- Multiple queens per colony
- Nests
- Nest in similar locations to Crazy Ants
- But White-footed ants prefer super massive extended colonies containing a million or more ants
- Satellite colonies indoors are more typical to homes than commercial buildings
- Indoor nesting sites include wall voids, potted plants and atriums
- Outside, they like dead wood based locations but literally any item lying on the ground maybe get invaded
- Propagation
- Large numbers of winged ants swarm and start new colonies - usually in late-May to mid-June
- Foraging
- Outside, they create well defined and easy to find trails along edges (buildings, sidewalks, ledges etc).
- Inside most trails are easy to find but sometimes hidden trails can be found under carpets
- How to Kill
- These ants are not known to cross-feed like almost all other ants so baiting alone will kill some ants but not target the majority of the colony/colonies
- We recommend calling-in a professional pest control service
- If you've tried that and failed your best results will come from mixing 1 gallon of Demon WP in a bucket for every 1 foot of mound diameter and literally pouring the solution on the mound - DO NOT SPRAY THE MOUND, YOU HAVE TO POUR THE MIXTURE
