Cornfield Ants
- Size

- Color
- Brown to a very dark brown that approaches black
- Locations
- Eating Preferences
- Stinger
- Antennae
- First segment of antennae is shorter than the head
- Eyes
- Relatively large sized eyes compared to the ant's head
- Nests
- Primarily build mounds in lawns
- Also found nesting in cracks in walkways and beneath rocks
- The nests can connect and become "extended"
- Propagation
- Winged male and female Cornfield Ants swarm and start new colonies from August to September
- How to Kill
- Use Maxforce Granular Bait
- Track down and bait every trail you can find
- Sprinkle bait around nesting sites - but not directly onto the nest
- A broadcast bait treatment can also help if you have large lawn/field containing many mounds, but only broadcast in conjunction with baiting around every nest (you cannot use broadcast baiting instead of taking the time to address each mound)
