- Nests
- Indoors, nests can be found where water damage has occurred
- They also like insulated wall voids, door frames and window frames
- Many times indoor infestations come from outside
- Outside they like to nest in decaying tree stumps and logs
- Also, check under rocks and logs
- Disturbingly, they also have a tendancy to nest in styrofoam - including foam in swimming pool equipment
- Propagation
- Winged ants swarm and start new colonies - typically mid-May to late-September
- Foraging
- Workers trail along tree limbs, railings, pipes, fencelines and utility lines
- Their trails can often be found entering buildings in the same areas as those pipes and utility lines, but they also enter near windows, doors and soffits
- But on occasion their trails can also be found on open ground
- Benefits
- Acrobat ants feed on termite alates (the termites that swam to start new colonies), cotton boll weevils and codling moths
- How to Kill
- Broadcast Maxforce Granular Bait around the outside perimeter of the building
- Track down and bait every indoor trail you can find with Maxforce Bait Stations
- Take care when sprinkling bait around nesting sites - the larger the nest the more agressive Acrobat Ants are - as always avoid directly contacting the nest with the bait, sprinkle around the outside of it and not on top of it
- Trim any tree limbs that are touching the building
